ABOUT US
Out of our Bloomin' Minds!
We’re Carol and Allan—partners in life and in this big little adventure.
We’re so grateful you’re here, and we can’t wait to keep planting, tending, and flourishing alongside you.
OUR STORY
Committment to Community and Hope in Chaotic Times
Allan and I moved to Orcas Island in 2021. We sold our boat, our van, and our home in Salt Lake City to put the funds together to make it happen in the middle of Covid and the most competitive housing market we'd ever experienced. Thankfully Anne sold us this property and house! Nearly five years later, this is absolutely our forever home.
Since our arrival we immediatey engaged with the Orcas Community. I became President of Orcas Aviation Association and helped Bob Waunch raise enough money to keep Mercy Flight pilot volunteers flying and started a scholarship program for adults who live permanently on Orcas Island and possessed a strong desire to get their pilot's license and eventually fly for Mercy Flights. We currently have four new pilots flying for you!
Allan has since taken up the reigns as President of OAA, built a scheduling software program to more easily connect those in need with pilots, and support Air Hawks so we have planes to fly and training facilities to help develop a pipeline of pilots to continue this valued service to the community. Allan also serves our community as an Orcas Island Port Commissioner to make the port's offerings "better not bigger". Each year, I work with the several charity organizations on the island to provide free workshops and flowers for their fund raising events.
All the while, Allan and I run a small niche software company we have boot strapped ever since we met each other twenty years ago and now we have employees who enjoy full health benefits, retirement savings, and a living wage. Our B2B software company is our core work but it has also provided us an opportunity to invest in The Little Farm on Olga Road, a passion project like none other in Allan's and my many crazy projects.
Partners in life and in this growing dream, together, we have transformed what was once a weed ridden fallow hay field into a flourishing market garden, farm stand and nursery for birds, pollinators and people.

OUR TEAM
A Tight Team of Two and Local Talent
Meet Carol
I’m Carol, the heart and hands behind all that grows on our Little Farm. A wife, mother of two grown daughters, and passionate gardener with a deep love for flowers. I find endless inspiration in nature and the beauty entwined through each season. Much of my joy comes from walking the fields, learning from the blooms I grow, and arranging them in a way that follows the rhythm and flow of the garden. But my greatest joy is teaching others how to build healthy soil, grow flowers and food and design with flowers.
Through our Little Farm, my hope is to share that beauty with you—to spread the love of flowers, bring moments of wonder, and inspire you through our blooms and opportunities to engage with me, our farm and all the beauty Orcas Island has to offer.

Meet Allan
Allan, Carol's incredibly talented husband, Allan makes sure the water is running, the pond is aerated, the seedlings have light, and heat. He artfully builds barns, farm stands, hoop houses, innovative irrigation systems. There is literally nothing Allan won't tackle. An experienced builder, Allan has plumbed, poured, built and electrified every single building you see on our farm. He has even developed our website!
Fulfilling a lifetime goal, Allan finally got his pilot's and IFR certificates. Committed to our island community, Allan serves as a Commissioner for the Port of Orcas and he is the President of OAA (Orcas Aviation Association) and Mercy Flights. He and other volunteer pilots fly hundreds of non-emergency medical missions each year.
WHAT WE STAND FOR
We are committed to sustainable farming and products, providing a living wage and a respectful work environment, and
bringing joy to all who visit our farm or purchase our products online.

Sustainable Practices in Action
Utilizing organic compost tea with organic fertilizers, we build healthy soil to support productive flowers.
We take a thoughtful and prophylactic approach to disease and pest control so that we don’t inadvertently build super bugs. We do not use pesticides or practices that harm pollinators.
We plant acres of trees and flowering perennials and annuals that provide food and habitat for pollinators and birds. Our rock wall terraces were intentionally built to capture and store heat for our wine grapes, while also providing habitat for native bees.
Our pond is stocked with algae-eating fish and is designed to capture water, irrigate our farm, and provide water for all life year-round.
All packaging for our grass-fed tallow skincare line is biodegradable and recyclable.
All our emu and beef tallow is 100% organic, grass-fed, and grass-finished. We are committed to sourcing organic jojoba, rose hip, bakachi, essential oils and butters.
