Plant Theater
Plant theater is any stunning collection of potted up perennials or annuals that creates an instant magnificent garden. Plant theatres can dress up any small or large patio or porch. During a farm tour you will find a variety of plant theatres around the farm. To make your own plant theatre we are excited to offer a huge variety of terracotta pots in an array of colors and styles. The Big Little Farm Stand will offer a selection of pre-made plant theaters that can be purchased individually or in collections. Or choose your plants and make your own!

Visitors and locals will also enjoy the opportunity to purchase hanging baskets, dripping with trailing lobelia, flowering vines, Creeping Jenny, calibrachoa, and other colorful displays of annuals and perennials. Their own type of plant theater, The Big Little Farm Stand also offers herb and sedum collections in curated terracotta and bulb bowls and seed pans.
The Little Nursery
![](https://littlefarm.life/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/IMG_6905-1024x1024.jpeg)
Recently, our beloved local nursery closed, but the need for perennial and annual plants continues to grow as locals and visitors nurture their own gorgeous gardens. Carol is busy growing a limited selection of annuals and perennials from seed and plugs and potting them up while tending and nurturing their growth. Dedicated to expanding her offerings each year, Carol is eager to learn more about the community and visitors’ needs.
Growing plants from seed takes time, sheltered dedicated space, carefully crafted soils, watering, and tending. Carol uses organic fertilizers and her own compost tea to grow strong and healthy plants that are never root-bound.
Living on an island is expensive and sourcing materials such as clean compost and mulch is even more expensive. Carol and Allan also believe in paying a living wage to the locals who help them work the farm. When you purchase plants grown locally, you are supporting the farm and investing in the health and well-being of our community. Our plants are of the highest quality and locally grown. Enjoy the convenience of purchasing plants on beautiful Orcas Island, while making a positive impact on the local economy.
Fresh Eggs and Little Farm Offerings
![](https://littlefarm.life/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/IMG_1599-scaled.jpeg)
Our farm stand eggs, freshly washed here, are a colorful display of farm-fresh goodness, welcoming you to experience the simple pleasure of gathering your eggs straight from the source. Our hens and one rooster enjoy a large run and clean coop where they are safe from the many Bald Eagles that soar over our farm.
Vegetables, Herbs, Berries, and Fruit
We have a dedicated hoop house on the farm where we grow a variety of seasonal vegetables, beefy tomatoes, and herbs. This is year two for our Little Berry Patch, but we hope to be able to offer private you-picks of Goji berries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, loganberries, table grapes, and hardy kiwis! You name it, we are probably growing it.
Our orchard trees are just babies but we will offer plums, pears, and apples from our friends across the street at the Inn at Shipbay!
